Understanding Factory Warranty Coverage

Bumper-to-Bumper (Basic) — Covers most vehicle components from front to rear, excluding wear items like tires and brake pads. Typically the shortest coverage period.

Powertrain — Covers the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. Usually longer than bumper-to-bumper and the most expensive repairs if something goes wrong.

Anti-Corrosion / Rust-Through — Covers perforation from corrosion originating inside the metal panels. Cosmetic rust is typically not covered.

Roadside Assistance — Covers towing, flat tires, lockout, and fuel delivery. Coverage period often matches bumper-to-bumper, not powertrain.

Federal Emissions — Federally mandated 8-year/80,000-mile coverage for major emissions components. Required by law — not a brand differentiator.

EV Battery — Electric and hybrid vehicle batteries have separate coverage, typically 8 years/100,000 miles. Some manufacturers guarantee minimum battery capacity (e.g., 70%).

What's NOT covered: Wear items (brakes, tires, wiper blades, filters), damage from accidents or misuse, modifications, commercial use restrictions, and repairs needed after coverage expires — regardless of mileage.
